Kids on track

The New York Times has an article today on electronic student ID. A school in Phoenix installed RFID chips in student's ID cards, hoping that this feature may prevent kidnapping or, I guess, just plain playing hockey. A similar experience is already in place in Tokyo..

What is fascinating this experience is that is is very easy to switch identity by switching ID. The NY Times article mentions that students may do it by mischief. I can just imagine what the writers at the Lifetime network may do using that material. Hum..., a divorced mother, fleeing an abusive ex-husband, starts a new life in a new town. Her kid goes to school, has one of these cards. Cut on the kid trading his card with a friend. Mum checks the radar, son is ok . Cut on son, kidnapped by father. Another mother worries, and so on. Keep the day job, yes, I know...
