Avatar as actors

The NY Times had an article yesterday about a new technology that allows to use very easily actors to create animated movies.

What about the actors? I believe that this technology may trigger the need to have add droits voisins in U.S. copyright law. The French law gives a droit moral not only to the author of the work, but to its interpreters as well.
